Procurement guide 03

What to include in an OEM packaging brief

A useful packaging brief distinguishes fixed requirements from preferences. That makes feasibility, minimum quantities, timing, and approval steps easier to evaluate.

01

Describe the finished configuration

List the primary container, units per kit or carton, protection requirements, and any components that must be supplied or approved by your team.

  • Primary container and closure
  • Units per kit or carton
  • Insert, tray, or protective material
  • Outer packaging format
02

Separate label content from artwork

Provide the required label fields and destination-market constraints first. Artwork files, print references, and proofs can then be reviewed against the confirmed layout.

  • Required label fields
  • Language and destination market
  • Artwork file format
  • Proof and approval owner
03

Define timing and change control

State the target completion window, who approves samples or proofs, and how later changes should be documented. Custom work is confirmed only through the applicable quotation and project review.
